Did you ever try to learn a simple-seeming, folksy song, only to realize that the harmonic and rhythmic structure that you love about it is your impression of layers of subtle lead-guitar riffs, and not strumming chords at all? Sometimes there's a way to reproduce that texture with chords anyway.
At long last, I have successfully added Paul Simon's "Born at the Right Time" (from Rhythm of the Saints) to my repertoire. Next time you're around me and a guitar, I'd love to play it for you.
