A little brain-teaser

One of these things is not like the others.

You ARE evil, considering the multiple correct answers.

Well, the one furthest to the left is not poisonous to me. :)

The pomegranate isn't in the tomato family, whereas all the others are? :->

The currant is not a nightshade. I was going to say "the potato is the only image in landscape format", but the currant is also landscape, by four pixels!

[identity profile] q10.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
i was guessing that one, because all of the others i could identify as nightshades, but the image quality is low enough (and the lighting is just horrible) that it's hard to identify that one as a red currant.

[looks closer]

ooh! that is devious.

but you need more recognizable photos for this to work. in particular, the potato really looks like it could be a picked tomato with a blemish.

I used the reddest, roundest photo of a potato that images.google.com gave me — and the images all have quite sensible filenames.

[identity profile] q10.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
...but filenames aren't visible in the course of normal interaction with the puzzle.

overall, thought, it's quite nice.

If you mouseover them, the link name appears in the bottom of your screen...or at least, it appears at the bottom of my screen.

Oh, I feel stupid! I was going to guess that one, but only because it looked like it had gone bad!

Yes.

Let's see...

One of them is purple.
One of them is not spherical (technically, none of them are, but all but one are things we would call sphere-shaped in our everyday lives).
One of them is a root and the others are parts of the plant's reproductive system (I won't go so far as to say they're all fruits, because there's a very technical definition of fruits that leaves out all sorts of random things that we normally call fruits).
Similarly, one of them grows underground.
One of them (as mentioned by other people above) is not a type of nightshade (I don't think I would have gotten that on my own--I don't think I knew potatoes were nightshade).

Umm... Two of them are Old World plants...

one of them does not have the letter "t" in its name
