Well, the actual engineering details are beyond me ;-), but since the tool is for making adjustments, I imagine it would be something like a wrench — long and skinny, forked at the business end, you get the idea... As for the component, it was already in the lab. Was it the "part" that was already installed, but incorrectly? Was it something else?
At some point, of course, the strict analogy to the source material breaks down, and what remains is poetry — or science fiction! I assume it's clear, though, why the Maintenance team would have to keep working through the weekend. (Speaking of which, have a Nice Weekend!)
